When wastewater from municipal or industrial activities is treated, the unrecyclable part is often discharged to waterways we all have access to. To keep these discharges from severely polluting the water, which would make the water unsafe for public use, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) issues permits to limit the pollutants discharged from wastewater treatment facilities.

Several SolarBee machines are often needed on one project
The SolarBee draws water from the lower depths of the pond and spreads the water across the surface in a near-laminar flow manner allowing the water to grab oxygen from the atmosphere. The The SolarBee direct flow is 3,000 gallons per minute and the total flow is 10,000 gallons per minute. This high rate of flow greatly accelerates the biological processes due to the increased oxygen levels in the water and other related factors.

The 9 inch diameter air diffuser (an aeration stone) produces tiny air bubbles. An air bubble 1/2 the size releases 4 times as much oxygen. So, the smaller the better for aeration and oxygen transfer in to water.
